# 1 – Stimulating Your Tendon Healing

Injured tendons often need help to keep the healing process GOING.

What all too often happens with tendon injuries is that the healing process slows way down, or stalls completely out.

(And tragically, almost ALL the standard treatments – including resting it / “giving it time to heal” – make this much worse, by helping to actively suppress the healing response – Cortisone shots being the worst example of this.)

Each person’s injury is unique, of course, but most troubled tendons need a lot of deep hands-on friction therapy to increase circulation, stimulate healing and release any Scar Tissue buildup.

# 2 – Releasing The Scar Tissue That’s Restricting Your Muscles

Muscles play an enormous role in tendon problems – after all, your muscles create the force that pulls on your tendons.

For long-term recovery, dealing with the tension and Scar Tissue in the muscle connected to your injured tendon is absolutely key. (Strengthening exercise should ideally come after that – NOT before.)

I use a powerful therapy called Soft Tissue Release that can release all the Scar Tissue buildup in your muscles like nothing else. And then there’s the overall pattern of weakness and tension…

# 3 – Correcting Your Compensations – The Overall Imbalance

Whether it’s Tendonitis, Tendinosis or another kind of tendon injury, I almost always find a pattern of weakness and compensation that’s overloading the painful, injured tendon.

For example, having worked with many tennis players with Tennis Elbow, I always find weaknesses in at least several shoulder muscles – Compensated for by the muscles in the forearm that cause Tennis Elbow.

Here’s the important point: NO amount of working on those forearm muscles and the tendon in question – by itself – will have any effect on the compensation pattern.

In other words, although we certainly need to treat the injured tendon and its muscle, something more is needed to correct the compensation pattern.
